At Samsung Medison, we have established an environmental management strategy with specific mid- to long-term goals
and implementation methods that aim to contribute toward the preservation of our environment.

Manufacturing process
Energy reduction

To reduce carbon emissions and electricity used within Hongcheon facility, the high efficiency thermo-hygrostat is installed in the manufacturing process, cutting annual electricity costs by 50% and reducing carbon emissions.

  • Greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1,2): 5.4ktCO2eq in 2022 → 4.7ktCO2eq in 2023
  • Replacement with high energy efficiency facility: 5pcs in 2024 (carbon emission reduced by approx. 160 tons/year compared to the previous facility)

Development of low-power and high-efficiency product

We are continuously striving to minimize unnecessary energy consumption. We are committed to developing high-efficiency product by applying WBG* device to the newly developing ultrasound product, and improving consumption/standby power through power UP Sequence improvement.

Applying standby power saving feature to product

We minimize product standby power by shifting the power to the sleep mode when the product is not used for certain time and applying the feature which blocks ultrasonic emission for certain time.

Carbon reduction effort throughout entire lifescycle of product

We contribute to creating renewable resource circulation society by supplying safe and environmental friendly products through the product design considering environmental safety impact and the priority purchase of eco-friendly material and facility and reusing and recycling waste products.

After introduction of paper packaging material in April 2020

When packing product, we use recycled paper replacing EPE foam.

Extending product life

Product life extension
through durability improvement

In product development stage, we conduct the in-house limit test and

the test satisfying international specification for customers to use product for longer time with the same performance.

  • Test to meet international specification: strength, falling, waterproof, and product life
  • In-house limit test: free drop test by angle and floor material, and various waterproof condition test
Exterior part chemical resistance enhancement

We minimized the part breakage due to disinfectant by replacing the synthetic resin of product’s exterior plastic with material with enhanced chemical resistance.

Extension of product life value through repair/refurbishment of used product

We collect and recycle the product when the product reached the end of its lifespan. We efficientize the resources by selling used/refurbished products after recycling process for the collected product and

conducting quality inspection equivalent to that of new product.

Water conservation by reusing water

for part cutting

We reuse the industrial water needed for dicing process to cut parts.

※ Saving through industrial water recycle: In the dicing process, 54.5% of industrial water is being recycled and used.

We operate and comply with ‘Product Environment Management Substance Operating Rule’ reflecting global environment standard* for follow-up system and thorough pre-inspection on part and raw material.

Chemical substance control in

manufacturing process

We manage all processes from purchase to disposal of chemicals to secure safety in using chemical substance.

  • Pre-safety inspection before chemical substance purchase -> Environmental impact registration -> Purchase of approved

    chemical substance
  • After using, the chemical substance is properly stored according

    to relevant laws and consigned to the waste disposal company.
